HD Video Stutters on my Desktop Computer

I have been trying to solve this problem since the day I bought my Kodak Zi8. I have a Dell Dimension E520. Here are the complete specs: 2.8 Ghz Pentium D processor, 2GB RAM, VisionTek Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics card, Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. I also have a 21.5" HD monitor. I have been trying to edit my videos recorded with the Zi8 but cannot because of the video lag. I have tried playing the videos in VLC, Quicktime, and the software included with the camcorder (its called Media Impression). Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!!
