My laptops like 1,5 year old and after playing skyrim and skyrim making it crash a few times even though i meet the speccs it started making a weird sound.. its coming from the num pad direction :s i dont use the battery only whire its an asus N71Jq series.. im not sure if this is related to it or if its just getting slow but sometimes it freezes for a few seconds in skyrim and ive noticed that when browsing the internet and using tab to switch to another internet tab it also freezes for a few seconds :s the noise is there the whole time i tried plugging my headphones in and it didnt do anything.. its driving me insane :(

So it happens after playing Skyrim? I suggest backing up and reinstalling the OS, if that doesn't help, your best shot would be to take it to the service centre.

Well all sorts of weird shit happens when playing Skyrim.. That game is not stable at all and is full of bugs and crashes so it might just be that. As for the sound it can be some sort of LED failing, might be the caps, num and scrlk lights. Also directly under the numpad is where the DVD drive is mounted so if you're running it from a DVD that might cause the sound.

Could be the optical drive, also might (but probably isn't) be the hard drive. As AlphaMike said, take it to a service center. It's a laptop, so getting into it might be tricky. Try inserting some disks to see it that makes the sound.
