A thought came into my head yesterday on the design differences between Windows 7 and Windows XP and how they effect the productivity of a user. What are your thoughts? |

It depends. For old geeks who always knew XP it'd be XP. but for non-geeks and most common individuals, 7 is more productive (since it's more user-friendly) and yes 7 still for those who can afford to have the latest softwares (because it's more copatible and faster with 7) AND the Windows Explorer of W7 is more helpful in doing tasks (such as the Aero snap) I gotta disagree here. XP had less bells and whistles then does 7. Less bells and whistles=more productive IMO. 7 is a bit fun once you get used to it, but a desktop needs to stay out of the way to be productive. 1
@Drmgiver While I do agree with your opinion somewhat, I feel that it really depends on the person. If you know exactly what you want to do and how you wish to do it, then yes, you're opinion seems to work well for me. However, If I need to do something where I'm constantly switching between windows, or trying to compare data Windows 7's "Bells & Whistles" make things much easier. Things, for the most part, are much simpler in Windows 7 than they ever were in XP. Easier Access to commonly used tools and features means that people need to spend less time digging for them and have more time to do the actual work/project/whatever, Increasing productivity. |

Windows 7 has more potential and is more reliable than previous versions. |

I think Aero Snap alone has made me more productive in 7 than I ever was in XP. I'm sure I could have found a program to give me Aero Snap in XP, but whatever. I like Windows 7 more anyway. I love Aero Snap. However, I wish Win7 explorer.exe had the up arrow. You can use Aero Snap on XP, there is a program called AeroSnap. Here's the link, you can use it on Vista as well. http://aerosnap.de/index_eng.htm |

Well, to be honest I don't like either one, however I tend to like things with less bells and whistles, so XP is less of a bad thing IMO. |
