i visited a freinds place one day and found that he had a Dell netbook too, it was heavier and obviously a bit more powerful than mine. i needed to charge, i checked the volt output on his charger and it was 19V like mine, but since then my battery life was cut in half. :( does anyone have an explanation for this?

^ his charger is a 19V as well, at least that's what I assumes from "it was 19V like mine"

Make sure the adapter offers enough amperage.

Also consider recalibrating the battery by running it down until it shuts off, then turn it back on and leave it in the bios screen and let it run down again.

After that, let it charge to 100% without being interrupted.

It means your battery has reached the near-end of its lifetime. Time to get a new one, bro.
