Chromebooks in Australia

Would it be worth waiting for Chromebooks to come out in Australia or would it be better to buy one from the US and get it shipped? I think that the price in Australia will be insanely high compared to the price in the US but I don't really know. Chromebooks are said to be coming out in the first few months of 2012.

So the question is, is it really worth the wait? I have another laptop that I can use but one of these would be really useful and I would hate to wait for the Chromebooks to come out in Australia only to find that it would be cheaper to just buy one in the US and get it shipped.
