What do you think of Windows ? Do you think it is great, unorganized, buggy, laggy, cheap, a joke, heading in the wrong direction, preparing for great things or what? I am curious. I like Windows. I'm running Windows. What about you all? Now what do you think of it compared to other operating systems. I am on a dual boot with Ubuntu as well...

Windows in my opinion is about as useful as the Amiga. It is really cute, but not really dependable for anything.

I run Windows 7 on two machines and I love it. I upgraded from XP to Vista and hated that but 7 is a great upgrade. I find it extremely productive and also find that it runs very smoothly, apart from a couple of problems with it. I think that it is quite organized although more could be done to organise installed programs instead of simply having icons or navigating through the start menu. Although I normally hit the start key on my keyboard and type in the first few letters of the program an hit enter. I wish that there was something that could be done where you could organize programs on your desktop like sorting them into groups, like on OS X.

I would also love multiple desktops like on Ubuntu where you can organize different windows into different groups. Although that may not be as productive, I would love to have that option for organisation.

As for where Windows is heading, I am dissapointed with what they have released concerning Windows 8 because, as many people have been saying, it seems that they are trying to cram a tablet experience in with a desktop experience.

I have had a mixed history with Windows but I still use it daily. My main OS is no longer Windows and it has been this way for two years now. I currently use Mac OSX as my primary OS but have Windows 7 on a laptop and on a partition. Windows XP was a great OS for the time and I stuck with it for a long time. Vista was a mistake for many reasons and although having tried it, I never owned it on any of my personal machines. Windows 7 is a great version of Windows and the best so far in my opinion. The issue with Windows now is Windows 8. Windows 8 is a poorly designed and makes the most simple of tasks annoying and uncomfortable for the user. It is clear Microsoft are targeting tablet computers but the harsh but true reality is the majority of their market is desktop and laptop users. If Windows 8 stays as it is the majority of schools, businesses and end users will not want to upgrade to it. It is painful to use and makes things a great deal harder. WIndows 8 in my opinion is worse than Vista. Visat had many issues with drivers and compatibility but when it worked it was easy to use. Windows 8 offers users nothing more than a painful, stressful and pointless experience.
