Steam Installation Timeout Errors

When I try to install certain games through Steam, I keep getting connection timeout errors. Since this only started happening yesterday and is only happening to certain games, I'm assuming that the Winter Sale is clogging up the servers. Is this right?

Also, if anyone knows a remedy for this, that'd be awesome, but if not, I can wait it out.

server overlaod is usually the issue, but it can sometimes happen with a currupt installation of STEAM.

one way around the overload is to change your download server.

open steam - click on 'steam' at the top - Settings - Downloads

change the download region. might help
