Are you more excited for the movie now, or did the trailer disappoint you? Or do you not care about the movie at all?

Personal opinion:

I'd say my excitement is about the same. I can't wait for this movie. The trailer was everything it needed to be. It included the key things like the setting up the premise, introducing all the dwarves (and them singing), some familiar images from LOTR (Hobbiton, Ian Holm, Rivendell, etc.), and of course, the ring and Gollum. I thought it was good, although it didn't quite send shivers down my spine. The crappy-looking text between cuts didn't help it out. But it still looks amazing.

Personally, I would love to see something like a 30 second teaser just teasing the scene with Gollum and Bilbo in the cave. And they could make it feel as dark and eiree and intense as it felt in the book... But then again, maybe all that's best left just to see in the movie, so as not to spoil the intensity when you're seeing it for the first time.

Thoughts?

Actually I didn't like it.. Firstly it's NOT Ian Holm who plays Bilbo, it's Martin Freeman -.-

most of the dwarves don't even look like dwarves, they look more like humans. I've seen fanmade trailers better than this one, but at least it showed the relevant parts of the movie, apparently it's gonna be a two parter just like Harry Potter which means the first film will probably end shortly after the encounter with Gollum and the second part will be from the escape down the misty mountains and into Beorns house. I like this approach because they can get more of the book into film. Especially with fantasy I'd like to see a visualization of how they did all of those things. It seems the first movie will be released next year, maybe at christmas like the rest of the lotr movies.. Can't wait to see it!

I didn't really like it. It was too in-depth. Made it seem boring. I am not anticipating much from this film. I don't know if it was the trailer or not but I did yawn int eh first time seeing it. ;)

With the site's issues I can't leave commets...

@Yarvaxea Ian Holm is actually reprising his role as Old Bilbo in The Hobbit. Also, Elijah Wood will be playing Frodo. I think the movie is going to start out with Holm starting to tell the story to Wood, and then flashback to the beginning of the story with Martin Freeman as Bilbo. And yes, it comes out 12/14/12. Gives us a week to enjoy it before the world ends!

I can see how an LOTR fan might not like the trailer. I didn't love it. It was definitely directed toward the general public, who maybe have seen LOTR once. They needed to cram a lot of info into this trailer to give people an idea of what it was about and I think they did an okay job of it. Not great though. But you can't judge a movie by its trailer, especially this one!
