I have a macbook and found standard headset/mics do not work because the macbook does not have a mic port. what would you recommend? |

Get a USB headset/mic. The Plantronics .Audio 655 is a really good headset. You could also get something like a Blue Snowflake, Samson GoMic, or another high quality USB microphone and use traditional earbuds/headphones. I use a Samson C01U USB condenser microphone on my MacBook Pro with a set of Sony studio monitor headphones or speakers. Works great. |

The suggestions made by PCLinux7 are all good. I have either Plantronics or AKG headphones in my studio. I use several different brands of mics, depending on the recording situation. Much of it depends on what you want to use the headset mic for and how much you want to spend. Condenser mics are better but more expensive. Plantronics is a good brand but I know many people who use and are content with Logitech headsets for stuff like gaming. I would suggest you read some product reviews on the brands suggested, consider what the reviewer uses them for and make your decision based on that. |
