USB Microphone whine

I got a Triton AX 180 for xmas. Love it except that whenever the microphone is operating I get a constant soft whine. I looked it up and came up with http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/headphones/1283512/tritton-ax-180 which basically states that the whine is caused by the USB bus. However the mic does not operate without the USB plugged in. Is there some kind of program or setting I can get or change to eliminate or reduce this constant electronic whine?
