Just wondering if anybody has any funny stories about the IT department at their company or school. Here's mine: I'm on the crew that produced the daily video announcements, and the computer we use (Dell OptiPlex 740) wasn't powerful enough to run the editing software. The IT department upgraded it to 8GB of RAM and overclocked the processor. Unfortunately, they didn't realize that it was Windows XP Pro 32 bit and could only support 3.5GB RAM max. What a waste. After they overclocked the processor, the needed some extra cooling for the case. Instead of installing a new heatsink, adding more fans or liquid cooling the system, they just removed a bunch of expansion bay covers on the back. It overheated like crazy and took an hour and a half to produce and render the three minute video announcements. It would constantly crash and restart. On a decent system, we could do everything in half the time (or less). We no longer have video announcements. It just takes too long. Anybody else? |

Wow, that's just epic. And one of the funny parts is that the 64-bit XP is actually hard to find.
