I have Linux on my laptop and I'm wondering what program or programs are best for video editing with Linux. I do heavy video editing and I will frequently use the video editor to upload videos THAT ARE IN HD. I want a program that will render my videos in HD and is the best for Linux. Hey if you want a sample of my work look up www.youtube.com/MyFunkyDesign IM NOT SPAMMING. |

I don't know which distribution your using of Linux. I quickly went over to Distrowatch.com to take a look the different distros that are available of Linux. I remember installing on linux called Ubuntu Studio. Which was for audio and video editing which I think included HD editing. Take a look through this link here. http://ubuntustudio.org/ And see which software is already installed on that version. And just go through your add and remove section of software add ons and download if from there in the repositories. I use Ubuntu So do I over here the funny thing is sometimes but not always. You can't think of the software name that the other gnomie is looking for until you go through or at least look through another distro to find what they are looking for. ubuntu studio was one that I had seen that was dedicated for audio and video editing. It would have the other software related as the normal ubtuntu has. But more for the studio editing insted of what other people would be using under Ubuntu. |

When I'm in Ubuntu, I use KDenLive. It's interface is similar to Vegas and Final Cut Pro 7. I've edited HD video in it for school with chroma key and numerous effects. It handled it great. Sudo apt-get install kdenlive OpenShot is also a decent alternative, although is nowhere near as advanced as KDenLive. I'm pretty sure OpenShot is preinstalled in Ubuntu... not too sure since I switched to Lubuntu. sudo apt-get install openshot |

As far as I am concerned, the only video editing option as of right now under Linux is Kdenlive |
