Would you say you have too much digital clutter?

Having a lot of files does not automatically mean it is clutter though. Just files and such that have been sitting for years and never used. Of course I have everything perfectly named and organized because I cannot stand chaos. Even well named files can be pointless after awhile.

Even though everything is in order, it seems that GB's of films keep coming in each month, you wonder when it ends. Being digital means it will take up just as much space as is already there, the issue comes when more hard drives are needed. Maybe I should not overthink digital files. One of those things that is there if and when you want it and even several hard drives are the size of a small paperback book.

I have 3 external devices overlapping files, it would take days to organize it all. I just know where stuff is. I should mention that I have 4.5 TB external not counting cloud storage.

Good grief, yeah! After over ten years of computer repairing, building, kids stuff landing in various external drives (many, many of those with many duplicates!)...I keep saying I'm going to sit down & clear those- but the truth is that it would take day(s) to connect up, browse, and decide what I wanted to keep or toss. So many programs- though older- I hate to delete as I later find I had the last, free version, etc...I once ran a duplicate finder on one drive & it found so many (apps & photos on multiple partitions) it took half a day to get 1/4 way through- and I never got back to it- lol...

So, all that to say, since that time I have moved forward & now take my own advice: I now create folders on a bare drive & make sure I place my things into those folders. So far, it's working.

Cheers!

I have always been very careful to maintain and keep my system well organized, I cannot even stand favorites not being renamed, daily ones available at all times with the others filed. Every so often it never hurts to check for dead or unneeded links.

No, every month or so go though your junk, do a c-clean and defrag.
