Megaupload has been caught for piracy reasons and were shut down for it. And the president was fined for it.

It wasn't SOPA. Sites get shut down for piracy under regular laws all the time

The Pirate bay is another one from what I hear gets shut down often and comes back online again.

And this just in look like Anonymous is out once again with the Department of Justic and others for what they did. Took both web sites down for it as well.
