Will apple switch to ARM based computers?

A while back, I saw something that mentioned apple possibly going to ARM based computers. I think that would be a leap forward in efficiency but a slight drop in speed. But it was only a rumor. What do you think? Will we see the same processors in our computers as an iPad or iPhone? And have we yet to see the cap in the changing of CPU architecture?
