As of right now, jailbreaking your phone, your tablet, or gaming console could become a crime. As you may know, the United States Copyright Office granted an exemption to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) for phone jailbreaking, stating that the practice falls under Fair Use in 2010, though it was for only one year. On February 10, 2011, the exemption will expire. Unless there is a extension on the exemption, lockergnome.net will be required to follow suit and will start deleting and removing any comments that is to do with jailbreaking when the jailbreaking exemption expires. This removal will happen soon.

Hopefully that it becomes legal to jailbreak... Seriously if someone buys their device, they should OWN IT. One of the many reasons why I will never buy Apple nor support them. They hardly let the users have any control of their devices. It is the consumer who supports you Apple, so stop holding out on them... |

What would happen if Apple, Inc. [BRICKED] all Steve Wozniak's & friends' Jailbroken iDevices? http://lockergnome.net/questions/70705/what-would-happen-if-apple-inc-bricked-all-steve-wozniak-s-friends-jailbroken-idevices Apple Kill Switch http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10010070-37.html If made illegal, Jailbreaking will become another SILLY LAW! |

Jailbreaking should have never been made "illegal" in the first place, especially under copyright laws. It's your device and you should have the right to do whatever you want with it whether it's using it as the device maker intended or hacking it to do even more. It's almost as if they're saying that we're just renting or licensing the devices we pay for with nonsense laws like this. Though, even if they do make it "illegal" again people will still continue to jailbreak and they can't really do much about it. It's not like the Apple police are going to come at your door if you jailbreak your device or something. lol. |

Isn't it against rules to talk about Jailbreaking here anyway? That's my understanding of it, because if people talk about jailbreaking comments usually get removed. It is not as strict here compared to Chat. Though after the rules is back in place, it will return to its strict state. Well why is it strict in the chat as well? If it was legal for that time, why is it so? 1
From the chat bot While jailbreaking in and of itself is considered to be legal, we won't help you break Apple's terms of service (EULA) by teaching you to install their software on a Windows machine or by helping you jailbreak your Apple devices. Please take that discussion elsewhere. while this site Nothing Illegal - We do not allow discussions of anything that is illegal within the United States, United Kingdom, or against International treaties. This includes but not limited to: copyright and trademark laws. Well, can't complain there. Thanks @Kevin. |
