Motorola Quality Drop

A few days ago I posted a question about how my waterproof phone wasn't so waterproof; I digress. Is Motorola's quality beginning to go down in their non-smartphones? Is it beginning to drop in their smartphones as well? I have read a few posts online that it seems that their quality control is missing a lot of lemons.
