ssd's are of course better than HDD's, but they are quite small and very expensive.

Magnetic hard drives have a much lower rate of failure, too. So SSDs are only appropriate when you value performance over reliability. IMHO, you should go for a balance. Maybe four SSDs in RAID 0+1 would be optimal? :)

Yah SSDs are a lot faster than standard harddrives and in a couple of years they will be more affordable

Although they are usually small and expensive, it will get a lot cheaper before you know it. I still remember the time when we were all like "HOLY CRAP! A 32 MEGABYTE FLASH DRIVE? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!?!?!?!? I THINK THEY MEAN KILOBYTES!"

I have a 256GB SSD drive in my pc, and well it preforms great. Did it cost much? Well, depends on what you call much. But you do notice a great difference from a normal HDD, it's just so much faster and smoother.

the performance of a ssd is great but you might want to look if your motherboard supports the 6Gb/s speeds, if you don't support that speed you don't need to consider getting one yet.
