I imagine if Apple produced a free mail service like Gmail they would make it better, prettier, and many would use it! anyone hear of anything like it by apple?

Not free: you don't get a free email address.

Yes, you get a free me.com email address, as stated on Apple's website:

I read into it and again, not free for people who DON'T have iPhone 3GS's or iPod Touches 3G and higher. Seems that you need to sign up for iCloud and that doesn't work on iPhone 3G and 2G or iPod Touch 2G and 1G.

Oh, well yeah, that's because iCloud isn't a feature in iOS 3, which is the highest those devices can go. Wouldn't be much of a point in having iCloud if you didn't have a device to sync it to.

iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G go up to iOS 4.2.1

Oh right, my mistake. Well they'd need iOS 5 for iCloud either way.

Right now I'm using both and im trying to figure out which one I like more. I would probably have to say I like iCloud's implementation better.
