Hello my PC is custom built by me it is running windows 7 home premium 64bit. My question is how to i do a clean re install/factory reset of my OS. I'm a little scared to try anything because I don't have the Windows 7 HP Disc anymore. So how can i do a clean reinstall of windows without the windows disc.

If someone can please help me i will greatly appreciate it.

There is no way to do a reset on Windows (or OS X, for that matter). The only way to accomplish this is to reinstall Windows from scratch.

I will not advise the use of torrents, since it is illegal, but there are often "extra" programs included with these images. Since torrents are on the seedy side of the Internet I would not trust them. Some even have tracking programs built right in for your lack-of-privacy convenience.

Just purchase a cheaper Windows 7 upgrade disc, or wait on Windows 8 which isn't that far away.

Do these include keys? You can download the media all day, but without a key it's useless. You are paying for the key when you purchase Windows, not the media.

My advice to you is to try to borrow a Windows 7 disk from a friend or download it via a torrenting site. If you don't like any of those options, buy a Windows 7 disk from your local retailer.

Sure he won't have any driver issues since he doesn't have the proprietary HP disc?

He shouldn't, and if he does, the drivers are on the HP website.

Uhh, I'm pretty sure the "HP" stands for Home Premium... Didn't he state that he build the PC himself?

Yeah, yeah you right, still if he custom built his PC, he should have no problem getting the drivers from the manufacturers site or from the Windows 7 disk itself.
