Yes, the USB has a very short lifespan and over time it will fail. Extend the life of yours by unplugging it when it is not in use.

I'm going to say no because, I do this all the time when I'm transferring 40gb or more of data and runs just fine.
There is no lag nor does the hard drive get really warm.

no you will not have any more issues with a usb hdd as you would an internal one.
Up to 2 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 524.3 kB each and 1.0 MB total.
