Optical Drive Problem

Have you tried un-intalling it and reinstall it under the device manager in your computer. This would be one thing I would try and do if it is possible. If not. The only other thing is replacing the drive with a new one. And nowadays optical drives are cheap to get for computer that requires it.

You need drivers to run a DVD drive? I always thought they were literally plug and play.

Usually they are But to play audio or video they usually need codecs for them to be played. But in general just for the player itself it might be those basic drivers which detects it under windows I don't know at this point. Which I doubt they are the root causes of it.

I'v already tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still no help.

You could i think, but you would have to buy an adapter or something like a SATA or IDE to USB.

Which would be about the same price as purchasing a new disk drive anyway, so just replace it i say.
