I'm trying to upgrade the PSU but the original one will not come out. I've taken out all the possible screws... still won't budge.

Take a alook in the PDF file from HP the Services and maintenance guide specifially. There should only be four screws in the back part that you would need to take out in order to remove the power supply. It is located where the fan is by the back part. It should slip out easily. I have done this with many tower types from HP, and a few others that use standard power supplies. there will be someexceptions where you would need a specific power supply from the manufacturer since they are non standard power supply. Here is the link from HP in their support section where you can download the PF file with the documentation.
