How can Minecraft help us learn?

I'm writing an article for my homework and one of the topics in the article is that video games aren't always a waist of time. I already watched Chris' video "Is Minecraft a game?". I need more information on how games like Minecraft (which im writing about for the article) can help us learn (in any way). I would appreciate the help.

In Minecraft, there's this thing called redstone. Essentially, redstone is exactly what wiring is in the real world.

Games are great for socialising with others.

Some games offer around 1000 players in on world allowing you to meet new people every 5 mins. Might not be like meeting in real life but you get to know people as your friendship grows.

You learn to interact with others and build a personality when playing a game. You learn who you are as a person and how people react to what you say.

Some people think games are a waste of time but that is what they think. I think watching TV all night is a waist but that is my opinion.

Gaming also aided me in learning the keyboard and being able to type without looking at it all the time.
