I'm on an iMac and Safari will open but not load any page. Chrome on the other hand works fine. I tried restarting the computer but that did not help. Then I reset the SMC and again that did not help either. Please Help!

Thanks, John

Try to reset the browser: Safari > Reset

If that doesn't work, it's something deeper. What did you do to it last? Uninstall extensions. Get it back as close to factory as possible.

This worked for me!

Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari

Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac, try Safari.

It stopped working again. It does work in safe mode though.
