Most web browsers include the ability to add functionality through extensions. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox in particular are popular for these reasons.

Under Linux, making copies of flash video is very easy. A flash movie will often be cached in /tmp and called something like "Flash4d7t5Q". Simply copy that video file elsewhere with the flash video open in the web browser and rename it to whateveryoulike.flv.

It might be something worth looking into ;-)

If you have firefox or internet explorer you could try ant toolbar. Not only is it free but it's extremely easy to use. http://www.ant.com/video-downloader/ I have used it on youtube mostly. But it may or may not work on other sites.

Head over to realplayer.com and download the realplayer SP. Then go to something that has flash on it (such as youtube) and a little button will appear that will say "download this video." After downloading, you can then convert it to several file types, and put it on your computer, or zune, or ipod, or phone.

Good software, highly recommend it, and its easy to use.

The easiest waybis if you are using Safari. When you are in Safari, go under Window, and then select Activity. There you can see all of the files being loaded up. All you have to do is double click the FLV file, and it should start downloading automatically.
