how do you go about gaining permission to use a song or part of a song in a video or multiple videos as part of your intro? also do you then have to add an Itunes link next to the description which i've seen on allot of vid's, if so how?

You need to write to who ever owns the music and gain permission to use it.

iTunnes links are auto added to Artist's videos by YouTube.

so would i find an email via their website and just ask through there or would i contact the label? How long does it take on average to get a response and would i need to provide them with a copy of the finished video first before they would allow their work to be sampled on it?

You contact who ever owns the music.

is it usually free or do you have to pay them? up front or they like get a share of any money made from vids including their music? or would including it be enough as it would be a form of advertising for them especially if youtube add the Itunes link and they were credited at the end of each vid it were used in?

basically i'm wanting to start a gaming channel on youtube this summer once i have the right set up and will be wanting to create an intro & outro for my vids using part of one particular song.
