So to start: I am 15 and live in Minnesota. I was wondering since I have a fairly large yard (However I am within city limits) And I was only planning to shoot paper targets against something solid that wouldn't let pellets fly off randomly, would it be legal to shoot it? My dad says it would but I was making sure. On another note I was planning to shoot toward a hill that leads up to other houses but the target would be down low. Is that still fine? (I use a Desert Eagle replica that shoots 20g pellets at about 300fps.) |

"You're house then yes you can fire anything you want." how about a RPG? or mortar? I always wanted to shoot them off in my back yard... In almost all cities with any sort of population to talk about (>10k) you cannot fire bb guns, paintball guns, airsoft guns, real guns, or anything that can "shoot your eye out" as it is said in "A Christmas Story." This is because, you can shoot your eye out... or worst, someone else's. |

Generally, it's legal to fire an airsoft gun on your own property, so long as the projectile does not leave said property. However, this depends on the local laws for your city. If you really want to be safe, you can check with local authorities to make sure you are in the clear. "In Minnesota, it is illegal for a child under the age of 14 to possess an airsoft gun unless under the supervision of a parent or adult. It is also illegal for any child under 18 to purchase an airsoft gun without parental permission. In Saint Paul and Minneapolis, airsoft guns cannot be carried in public unless they either have an orange tip, are clear or brightly colored. Airsoft guns also cannot be carried in public if they have a laser attached. It is legal to possess airsoft guns in these cities as long as they are transported in a closed and fastened gun case (in accordance with Minnesota firearm transportation laws) and unloaded. The vast majority of municipalities in Minnesota ban the firing of an airsoft gun within the city limits." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_issues_in_airsoft#United_States |
