Quick question, are there any rumours as to the maximum memory for the new Macbook Pro's? will it be more than 8gb? Also i hear it's better to get a Mac with the basic amount of memory and buy & install more yourself rather than buying it from Apple upon purchase, is this true, by what degree is it cheaper and how easy is it to install memory on a Macbook Pro at present?

All of this is speculation right now, so nothing is for sure. The only thing that is most likely to happen is the addition of an Ivy Bridge processor. As far as the RAM goes, I am guessing we'll probably see an upgrade, but that is not a guarantee.

Also, RAM is pretty easy to install on a MacBook Pro, just make sure you have the right screwdrivers! =D

there's a few laptops out now with 16GB of memory, what's the odds the new Pro line will make a jump to that level?

I highly doubt that Apple will include 16GB standard on the Macbook Pro. 4GB does the job for most people, so Apple will still probably keep it at 4GB. We might see a 6GB 17" possibly. Anyways, why would you want to let Apple upgrade the RAM for you? They're too expensive when it comes to that..

i realise it wouldn't be standard of course but i would want to have the maximum available memory whether it be 8BG or 16GB but there's an obvious preference between the two. As i stated i'd like to know the £££ difference between having Apple do it and doing it myself, also if that is the case knowing if there's any particular brand of memory i should look at using above any other would help
