Who else is looking forward to this version of Ubuntu? I am primarily a Mac OS X user and very occasionally Windows but I do enjoy Linux from time to time. Unfortunately the website has crashed with all the traffic! Anyone else trying to get it?

Unity doesn't cut it for me. I prefer KDE, which is why I use Pardus Linux. Ubuntu's site is up now.

Yeah it is up for now. I just went there myself. Some people like certain version of Linux. like the KDE or Gnome. I like the gnome version personally. Too bad they did not keep it up for the Power PC G$'s and stuck with the intel processors. I know they are the newer laptops and desktops. It would have been nice to even put in the latest one on a original Mac Mini power PC.

I much preferred Gnome. KDE is also ok. Unity I dislike but I am trying to give it a fair go.

There is no harm done with giving it a go. I usually do with new distro's that come out. Sometimes you got to bite the bullet and go backwards once in a while just for sake of sanity. I have had some distro's from ubuntu which worked out really smoothly on certain computers. And just horrible on others until I went one version back and everything was okay for that particular machine being tested on.

I've been one of the larger dissenters for Unity in the last year. Having looked at some reviews of 12.04 though I must say that it actually looks pretty good. I don't think I will be giving up Xfce any time soon (or LMDE for that matter) but I will be trying out Ubuntu 12.04 in a VM to give it a go.

I'm pretty sure that Unity 3D is now compatible with VirtualBox...
