Now I believe this is a topic that hasn't been discussed here before, and I'm not sure whether it is allowed to be discussed here, and if it isn't, I apologize.

But moving onto the question, I have known about the 'deep web' for years now, and it has always interested me, but I have never been on the deep web, knowingly, as of yet as it is something that holds content I don't want to get involved with. But what are your opinions on the 'deep web' and the content it holds?

Damn, you learn something new everyday. Never knew this existed. I thought deep web, at first, meant like hacker sites and whatnot.

I just did a Google search on "Deep Web" to find out what it is. At first I thought it was related to hacking or something of a malicious nature.

There are hackers who operate here. It is somewhere on the web that holds much more information than what is accessible to 'normal' internet users, and also means people can be completely anonymous here. That's why vast amounts of criminal behaviour occur. It's extremely interesting.

There have always been groups/movements etc. who consider it a badge of honour to be inaccessible to the average man. Most end up either exposed as ridiculous parodies of themselves or simply folded back into the mainstream. The 'deep web' if indeed it ever actually existed looks like it will fall into the second category as it becomes apparent to everybody that the content is no different than that already available and gains nothing from its 'special' status other than as a footnote to the history of the Internet.

No. From Wikipedia ...

The Deep Web (also called the Deepnet, the Invisible Web, the Undernet or the hidden Web) refers to World Wide Web content that is not part of the Surface Web, which is indexable by standard search engines. It should not be confused with the dark Internet, the computers that can no longer be reached via Internet, or with the distributed filesharing network Darknet, which could be classified as a smaller part of the Deep Web.
