I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation 64GB. My problem with it is that every once in a while (usually while fully charged or at 20% battery), every app crashes within 30 or so seconds after opening it. This includes both the stock and downloaded apps. I've tried every "fix" I could find including: logging out and back in to the iTunes store, downloading a new app, deleting an app, clearing all multitasking, disabling icloud, disabling notifications, disabling location services, clearing all safari data, soft reboot, hard reboot, forced dfu mode(hard reboot once in dfu mode to get out of it), dfu mode and plugging into iTunes on my computer, restoring from an iCloud backup, restoring from a backup on my computer, restoring to factory settings(restore with no backup), and even the update to 5.1.1 iOS didn't help. I'm completely lost as to what else I can possibly try, besides throwing it out(or at) the window. I've tried contacting apple, but sending them a support email just redirected me to "express lane" which sent me to my registered apple products, which told me that my watrenty expired and that I had to buy a new watrenty just to get support. Thanks apple! Oh well, anyone here know a fix besides the ones I've already tried? |

If all of those options failed, I would get a Genius Bar appointment ASAP. That is a serious problem you got there, they'll help. I know your warranty expired, but still at least go. You never know. 1
90% of the time, it doesn't happen at all, and everything runs perfectly. But if it does happen, to even just one app, it continues crashing everything until I give it an hour or so to just sit there locked. That's the only fix I've found so far, but it takes so long. I believe it's because if it sits for a while locked, it clears the ram. Still, I'd take it to the Apple Store, you never know if there's a problem with the internals. 1
It could be... My lock and home buttons have started to press twice when I only press them once, I guess it's just getting old with a lot of usage. Yeah, but still if they can't take it to the Apple Store, you can send it in. What about a trade in? I noticed my nearest Apple store has a trade in option listed on their website. I still have the original box my iPod came in, and the earphones, but not the power cable. Would a trade in do any good? (I'm really only considering it because of the prices listed for tech support on my nearest Apple store's site. It is listed as $69 for support, and $99/hr of repairs.) My dude, just go and check it out at a Genius bar. It's not that bad, they don't bite! Why consider selling it when there might be something wrong? Well I just don't want to get charged $69 just for them to look at it, and say there's nothing wrong. (which, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong unless I can reproduce the crashing problem, but it's just random) And then if they do find something wrong, repair is $99 per hour (I doubt it'll take An hour, but it doesn't list anything for less than an hour). I'm just assuming the $170, and for that price, I could get a new one (not 64GB of course, but still a new one with a camera and all) It's free to make a Genius appointment, and as I said before, at least let them check it out. I'm going to keep pushing you check it out because if you sell it like that, with no professional looking at it, that's just dishonest in my book.

If you have a bad problem like this, try to visit an Apple Store/Genius Bar. If you don't have one nearby or it's not convenient, call the Applecare line. I know your warranty has expired, but for technical faults they will generally speak to you anyway. Just call the number for your country and say you have a problem with your iPod. Give them the serial number (available under Settings > General > About or in iTunes) and they will [remind/tell] you that you no longer have phone support or a warranty. Just explain the issue and they will try and help. AppleCare phone support is for help, not for problems (e.g. Derp How do I change my wallpaper). With technical problems which are not your fault, they will probably offer you some sort of help, which may involve sending it off for inspection/repair. If you are lucky, this should be free. |

Someone mentioned that you should restore your device and not use a backup. I would highly recommend this before heading over to Apple. Like the member stated, a lot of backups can become corrupt. This has happened to my iPhone. A simple restore helped my issue. After restoring your device and you're still having the same problem, you may want to consider making an appointment with Apple's Genius Bar. Whether you are out of warranty or not, Apple always does a great job at helping you in any way possible. |

That window's looking pretty good to me! Says the poster responsible for more questions that nobody answers than anybody else and clearly has no idea what 'troll' even means in this context? Sheesh. The poster clearly indicates that she has tried every possible diagnostic and updating trick in the book without success. She has no recourse to support from the manufacturer. If I choose to confirm her own suspicion that there's nothing left to try using her own humorous reference rather than dressing it up in technospeak for your benefit that, frankly, is none of your [insert favourite profanity here] business. 2
Quite frankly, I haven't heard much good advice come from you Cornflakes. I've seen several pointless answers and comments. Including the one above. Even in my own questions. It's annoying. You need to stop. As for Nitro, your questions are relevant and welcome on this site :) 1
