Will Verizon ever get the iPhone? duplicate topic will be closed soon, reply to original thread |

There have been clear indications Verizon will get the iPhone. The question is really when. Rumors cover from later this year back until 2011. Better question is - do you want an iPhone. Not everyone wants or needs an iPhone. Apps are great if you use them but are a big time and $$ sink if not. Cheers. |

Steve Jobs said yesterday at the press conference that Verizon is on their campus testing the signal of the new iPhone 4. Why else would Verizon be there testing if there isn't a CDMA Verizon iPhone coming out?! That's false. He said they have a Verizon an AT&T tower on campus, he never said anything about Verizon testing anything. At the live blog via the wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs stated ""We have both an AT&T and Verizon cell site set up on our campus" for testing, says Jobs." Verizon does not use GSM which AT&T and the current iPhone use. Verizon uses CDMA technology. The only reason that Verizon has a reason to be there (or their tower) for testing is if there is a CDMA iPhone present on campus being tested. Link : http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2010/07/16/live-blogging-apples-press-conference/ Comment at 12:43 p.m. But you see, when you allow a carrier to put a tower on your property, they have to pay you over $3,500 per month to keep it there. Also, it just might be there since AT&T and Verizon are the two major US carriers, and since Apple is a pretty big building, theres probably not good reception there except for those towers, so I'm guessing its so staff members get better reception to make calls. I would love to hear where that $3500 comes from. That number is going to depend on what the property owner wants for that. Yet, why would Steve say they were TESTING the iPhones signal problems if Verizon was on campus. Verizon does not use the GSM technology and their towers are NOT compatible with it. They have an AT&T tower on campus as well...incase you missed that. And my dad told me a person gets paid around $3,500 for a tower on their property. He has friends who did it. We obviously know why they have an ATT tower on campus, thats for testing of the ATT signal with the iPhone.

I don't know, and I really don't care, as I don't want one! |

Verizon is currently making MAJOR upgrades to its network to support massive data transfers. So yes as soon as those upgrades are complete we will see a iPhone for Verizon. There have been rumors of a different iPhone for Verizon but that might not be true. I would love to see the iPhone for Verizon. |

In my opinion, if Apple decides to do that, then Verizon would end up being the top cell phone provider. Because if you think about it, the only phone AT&T has to even compete with Verizon is the iPhone. Personally, I LOVE Verizon! Their service, the network.. EVERYTHING! And they have a WIDE variety of phones to choose from. If Verizon can pull it out, then they will truly be the #1 cell phone provider in America. But Apple has been saying that for years now, and nothing's happened. So I wont believe it until I see it.
