Hey Lockergnome,

A few months ago I switched to Google Chrome after FireFox was bottlenecking my internet (I couldn't get more then 30Kb/s when it was running (don't ask me how I did this, I break things with my mind!)) but I've noticed that the spell checker is awful. It says a word is wrong but rarely know what the right word is. Did I break something here as well or is it just like this?

Ironically enough I search the wrong word on Google to get the auto correction to give me the right word.

Assuming that you didn't, did you check the language settings?

Try to re-install Chrome, try the beta or the dev version, that might work.

The Chrome Canary and Chrome Beta often break the spell checker, but its not a feature they try to improve upon, you can (in Canary) allow it to search Google for the proper word in the context menu when right click the misspelled word, and you should try chrome Canary, most unstable, but it gets updated with the newest features first, and hopefully, with any luck they might improve upon it soon, but it doesn't bother me as much, just keep trying to respell the word and see what chrome suggests.
