I am trying to install a few anti virus programs, and I am always prompted I have to remove one of my other anti virus programs before it can install the other one. Why is this? Thanks.

Is BitDefender a good anti virus, THAT IS NOT an anti-virus itself?

They conflict with each other, since they monitor for viruses, they'll cancel each other out.

Okay, makes sense, thank you!

That's because anti-virus programs are viruses themselves. This is why you can't have 2 installed at the same time, or at least shouldn't.

What are some anti virus programs THAT DO NOT contain viruses? Any of them?

Not what he meant. Anti-virus programs act as if they were viruses in order to discover malign viruses. They are themselves entirely benign.

Not only that if you have two of them installed at the same time. They tend to slow the operating system down so much. It is like watching Molasses getting poured out from a container. Then People complain as to why their computer is slow. I have heard it all being in the front line of a ISP provider. This is why you have with some a detector to help you uninstall the other antivirus over another.

Why would you want more than one installed?

If you choose the correct one, combined with safe surfing, then you don't need more than one !

As said, they conflict with each other.

For example - Program A finds a virus and puts it into it's Quarantine while it waits for your decision.

Program B then finds the virus in Program A's safe quarantine folder and moves it to Program B's Quarantine.

The move may or may not be successful - Program A could prevent the move which could cause Program B to think Program A is also a virus.

Alternatively - the two programs just constantly move from eachother's quarantine.

**** hits the fan and your computer just runs slowly.
