I feel as if I'm one of very few geeks who are athletic. I exercise (weightlifting and running) daily for about two-three hours and I compete in wrestling tournaments on a weekly basis. So, do you consider yourself to be a geek who's also largely athletic?

I would say yes to be healthy and the way I want to live requires some physical activity from doing soccer for my school in the fall or playing tennis in the spring. I do also like to lift weights while watching tldr.

I'm on my High School's baseball team and I run bi-weekly. I want to start lifting weights, don't know where to start though.

Start with whatever you're strong enough lift. The thing is you have lift every day (and I'd even recommend twice a day) to see progress to heavier weights in a reasonable amount of time. Once you start lifting every day and get used to it, weightlifting will not a be a burden for you at all.

Also, the amount of weight you're able to lift just depends on your body type. I'm about 250 pounds with 15% of that being body fat according to my athletic trainer at school, so I can obviously lift a lot of weight. You have to find weight that's just right for you.

Yeah I mean we have weights in the weight and conditioning room, I just don't want to pull a muscle. I guess on Monday I'll try 10 pounds, simple enough.

Played baseball since I was 4 and wrestled in high school too. I actually consider myself more of a sports guy than a computer geek, I'm really not all that knowledgeable. My major is Computer Science now but coming out of high school 3 years ago I knew next to nothing about computers, and I've always loved playing sports.

Now I'm in a laid-back 18-and-up softball league and I play pick-up football with friends every Thursday. Never been one to go running though. Just don't feel like it. Maybe that's why I didn't take my sports career past high school haha.

I'm a big guy (250 pounds), so when I run I really have to force myself to get through it each time.

Ha, good on ya man. I'm 6'2", 180lbs, so I've got no excuse. The weekly pick-up sports are working for me though, and they're way more fun. It's not like I'm not training for wrestling tournaments anymore haha.

I sometimes run. Nothing else. Not much of a sports fan.

I was! Played Baseball, basketball, American Football, waterpolo and swimming. These days I only watch sports on ESPN America. Yeah, I know... I'm bad...

I used to play basketball and football, but anymore I just try to workout for an hour or two daily. Ran my first 5K(in a race) at the beginning of this month and plan to do more soon.
