I was on Alienware's website customizing an X51 and noticed that it comes with a 330W External Power Supply. 330W, seriously? Is that enough to power an i7 processor and a video card that you would expect to get in an Alienware computer?

From what I understand, the X51 uses a laptop power supply because it is in a small case.

The biggest reason for it is the size factor. These x51 cases are not big enough for normal power supplies. Power is another thing though. Maybe the hardware doesn't use that much energy and if the power supply is very efficient, they don't need that much power.
