Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to make a tablet? |
|
You can't make your own tablet... You'll never find the hardware to do it unless you work for a big company in this type of industrie. |

Well here is something that you can try and do found it on wired.com website. Building your own but with 256 megabytes I start a cringing on with it. Take a look and see for yourself. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/06/build-your-own-tablet-for-400/ That looks cool! Definitely an interesting project indeed. but yet again. It's the memory I find a little low for it. I have something similar with innovatek I think I even asked it here at one point. 256 megs does not do android justice to it. Bring it up to at least minimum to 2 gigabytes to have something really sweet. And still have some room left over to be able to install the apps, music and video's you want on there with the micro sd or the regular sd cards. |

Hmmmm. Detach the keyboard from the monitor of it with wires still connected and somehow attach the keyboard to the bottom of the screen. The laptop screen must be touch-type. That is the only "easy" way. :D Hope you find this creative. |

I found this last year, http://carbontablet.blogspot.com/ Basically you get a laptop, take it apart, flip the screen back, make a casing, buy a usb touch screen, shove it together in a casing and hope for the best... |

I dissagree with the statement that you cant do it, you can get the parts, but there is so much that goes into a tablet, you would have to design your own circuits, build your own linux platform and make your own PCB. you would need to design your own enclosure, sourcing your parts would be very hard unless you are very skilled at it and dont mind waiting a couple years before it is done. by that point you will have such an out of date system and spend more then it is worth. |

It depends on what you mean by "build your own tablet." Do you want to make one from complete scratch? Or do you want to convert an existing laptop into a tablet? Making one from complete scratch would take some serious know-how, since you would need to make a custom body, as well as find special internal parts. Realistically you would use scrap laptop parts to make one. The other, easier way is to take an existing laptop, disassemble the body, flip the screen around, add a touch sensor, and resemble. Some companies make special kits just for this. For example, there use to be a company called Axiotron that would sell ModBooks, or MacBook and MacBook Pros that were modified tablet versions. I believe they also sold kits that you could use on your own laptop. |

Staple papers together. wallah you have a tablet. You can buy a cheap Chinese one and customize it to suite your needs. (Tekzilla did a video of it) |

With great difficulty I can imagine! Here is a link to an instructables page, which shows you how to make your own tablet computer from an old laptop. It does look quite difficult to do though. Link: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-tablet-pc-from-an-old-laptop/ I hope this helps! Also, good luck on this project! :) |

Fixed how the question was asked, just fyi.
