Well people of Windows 8 Developer and Consumer preview, the time has come to upgrade to Release preview. Windows announced it a few hours ago, and I'm going to upgrade from Consumer to Release. Are you going to upgrade? If so, from what version? If not, why? Or are you going to jump in now to download and see how Windows 8 is?

Apparently Microsoft gives you a key to add Media Center if you're so inclined. I took em up on that offer, lol.

nope not jumping into win8 at all moving on to Linux I believe that is the direction many will be move toward in over the next few years as more computer makers are already coming out with Linux p reinstalled on there newer utrabooks and notebooks Dell , HP, Lenovo , acer all have Linux supported ultra books think pads .. acer has a notebook out dual boot android and windows though not win 7 or 8 its android and win XP .....

really not seeing much in the way of advertising for win8 for that matter some word Nokia has things in the works for windows phone and tablet notebook ..

I've only seen my friends try the Windows 8 customer preview and I already know that it's not even worth a shot for me. The metro screen thingy just looks plain ugly and a yawn at development (c'mon just tiles? that's not even trying to make something look good)

Also they all went back to the regular Windows 7 look and feel and hated the Metro as well (what else is there to Windows 8?) so they are basically using something that is new in an old way.

Thirdly Microsoft has a really bad habit at screwing up every other version of Windows. We all know how much of a flop Vista was and in that version it was a complete redesign (still working on the same old DOS from 1981 (last updates in 2000, yeah twelve years ago!)) and they failed miserably! Windows 7 is what Vista should have been from the beginning. With Windows 8 they are doing the same thing yet again. They even redesigned the BSOD which only tells me they're proud of it!

To me Windows 8 will not be worth my time to even check it out. I've had no problems with Mac OSX at all since I've switched about 3 years ago and I will stay with Apple for now.

Will not be upgrading to Windows 8, tried the Consumer Preview and absolutely hated it. I would rather use Linux with just a terminal. Can't figure out normal things that anyone would be accustomed to doing, not to even mention how everything requires double the amount of clicks as before.

I'm a very satisfied Mac OS X user!

I hardly see Windows 8 as an "upgrade".

windows 8 is not an upgrade at all its a shift a move from the desktop environment, Microsoft is in catch up mode have fell nearly 2 decades behind technology , they have honestly made no advances since since just after they release internet explorer ..

while they were busy fighting the battle of the browser with Netscape which moved the better part of its code to open source and sold the mess to AOL the rest of the tech world wisk right past them ..

apple stopped loading tons of time in to upgrading there one single OS and started pouring time energy and resources in in to Ipod Ipads Iphone I tunes , Goggle got busy building a base linux os that work for readers smart phones

the community started getting involved in aps windows was still fighting the browser battle imagine being them Netscape vanished from the picture then were #1 on top out of no where came fire fox opera and chrome kept them busy with that browser battle while the whole way everyone used the internet changed ..

linux is winning support from main stream computer makers and in most ways looking and running sharper then windows ever did , this in many ways make it or break it time for windows if this cant fly for them they can't get some company's interested in windows phone tablet and such soon micro soft will be nothing but an after market program vendor ..

i have many people telling screaming and fighting telling me this will never happen and that even if it did it will take so long it will be serveral life times from now I say keep your eyes Open im not the only one who see thing coming the change is going to come quick in the next 3 to 5 years we if things with win 8 dont go boomingly we will be talking about windows in the past tense remember when type of thing by 2017 people will be saying what ever happen to windows or micrsoft ...

If I can get it for under $40, I'll probably buy it, but if it's higher than $40, they can forget it...

I won't be upgrading as such (since I deleted the consumer preview within a day or two of installing it) but I'll probably stick this in virtualbox and see what it's like. It's unlikely to convince me to upgrade to it when it's released though unless they've made some serious improvements...
