I have an iPhone 3G. As you know smartphones eat up data like it's nothing, and I'm wondering what do you guys use a month? I have T-Mobile, and I have the $50 unlimited talk, text and web, since I use Edge, I have nothing to fear about the 100MB 4G cap, as I don't use 4G. That'll change when I switch to Android, but for the time being it's fine. I use 300-400MB a month, and I usually surf the internet, go on Facebook, Lockergnome, constantly download Email from Gmail, download things via Cydia and the App Store and finally use apps like ESPN's Scorecenter and the Speedtest app. In other carriers I'd be considered a heavy hitter using more than what people would actually use. I know that overseas, when I'm in the Dominican Republic I use Orange Dominicana's legacy unlimited everything plan for RD$3,000 or $77.22. That's been holding me well, and I have 3G access as well! What about you guys? Are you guys heavy hitters as well?
^This hasn't been reset since I last reinstalled iOS in February.
^My plan on T-Mobile and how much data I used this month. |

Even with having Unlimited data, I only use around 50-80mb/month because most everywhere I go has free wi-fi that I can connect to, so there's really no reason to use my data. Cool bro, I would connect to WiFi, but my School recently locked their WiFi (and that is where I use most of my data at), so I'm stuck with EDGE speeds for now. That sucks man. I know how you feel. I have an unlocked Palm Pixi Plus on Tmobile and until my area gets "4g" on the 1900mhz band, I too am stuck on EDGE. My school keeps theirs locked but they tell us the password since we have to have it because they provide Macbooks every school year for us to use during the day and for $40 we can take them home every day during the school year. Its a pretty sweet deal but after 4 years of high schooler's abuse, they're in pretty rough shape. FINALLY SOMEONE FEELS MY PAIN! :)) It used to be unlocked, but they recently locked it back. Oh well, this year they might unlock it back! I use a Clear MiFi for my laptop at school, yes Clear MiFi, why don't I use it for my phone? I have a USB stick, -___-. Since they locked it just for the school laptops and not for personal ones anymore. Haha. That sucks man. Dont they make like portable routers though that you can plug the usb stick into and make it wifi? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004J16XB6/ Here is one thats rated 4 stars. I've seen ones cheaper than this one though. If Clear accepts them, I'll use it. I got the Clear USB stick free, because they were running a promotion. The routers were full priced when I came in -__- That sucks. It says that It will accept any usb 3g/4g modem, so It should work.

i don't personally have a "smart phone" so I my self use 0 bandwidth each month , how ever I know people who do have smart phones and along with all the other gadgets and above and beyond the contract limits with g3 and ISP they are paying upwards of $350 to $700 a month for internet home and cell bandwidth this would include using gaming systems net flix computers tablet several smart phones .. most ISPs today are metering bandwidth allowing a max of 40GB a month for $39 a month an additional charge of $1.50 gb over that paid for in advance this gets costly if you have a house of 3 or 5 people, this don't even include any payment for cloud services web hosts domain names music purchases other then streaming :) I know for many that sounds a tad steep but when you stop and consider in the average home today there can be upwards of 25K in eletronic toys that use the internet and bandwith in some way 24/7 $350 to $700 from a providers point of veiws is fair .. many house holds have gave up the land line phone cable service to help defray the cost of running and using there gadgets I think it goes without saying here you just don't welkin and use someone wireless it is all pretty much lock and protected very well it it costs dearly most hotels and such offer free wifi though may control it pretty close and can switch it on and off in each room it cant be used from outside .. Lool, trust me if I had a meg down I would be doing a lot more things than just browsing the web. TWC doesn't meter our bandwidth, and I'm lucky for that. If I were on Comcast, I would be so tight because I would run out of bandwidth in a few days. I would give up the landline but the landline is good to have just in case. Hotels suck with their WiFi because I tried to use it and they blocked all the good sites, and if the sites weren't blocked, the WiFi speed felt like Dial-Up at times. Must've been the hotel I stayed at in Cali (Hilton LAX North), but other hotel's wifi I like such as the La Grunta hotel in San Francisco, their internet was on point with 3G speeds. I use to be a TWC customer, I am in Canada now they were already a year ago talking contracts and offering data caps for the monthly fee as well as limited phone service data cap as that also uses band width VOIP at that time believe me its heading you way and fast .. they were still deciding on the set up and class levels of service , they wanted the unlimited offer gets over whelming with the amount of devices per house hold using bandwidth.. there are also more then one think people using there home service to try and run web ftp and mail server that cause then issues little do they know service is already set up by priority and these items are 0 on that list outside of business class .. everyone who was suggesting verizon for unlimited cell bandwidth can forget it they have already set limits and additional fees for over useage for all fios has done the same .. They have FiOS "Quantum" now, Which is the highest tier 300mb down/65mb up? That's $205/month, that's the cable bill right there, lmao. If they cap my internet, I will move to a market with true unlimited, best believe that. ahh Quantum thats another name for AOL Little fact not many know :) maybe something long ago maybe they hope most had forgotten and they were back then also tied with TWC Ah. Cool bro. If only T-Mobile would hurry up with the 1900mhz spectrum, I would be doing SO MUCH! YouTube loads, but watching a video would take 5 minutes to buffer on EDGE and on 3G as I've seen on AT&T is almost instant. FiOS is Verizon, I don't know if you were confused, lol. yeah kind of a funny story back when in the early days of internet when providers were far and few and cost was roughtly $3 an hour to do anything there was really no graphic web browsers.. 92-93 I had , had computers but I got my first windows computer a packard bell and AOL I guess had just came out with version 1 of there program for windows floppies were more readily avalable then water.. I picked one up and registered for an AOL account it was the only company at the time that would take E checks if you had no creidt card and the charge was like $19 a month + $3 fee and any ;ong distance phone charges if they didnt have a toll free modem number in your local area but they were offering first 90 days free they would forgo the $19 a month .. any how got buzzing along with AOL and several month went by one day my now ex wife came to me and asked who" quantum computer service" was I had no clue she was pretty upset and concern because they had just taken about 2 weeks pay from the chrecking account hehe she had charges from this company frozzen .. about 10 days went by and I cam home one day to no AOL no matter what I tried I couldnt connect so I called after waiting about 2 hours a rep got on the phone we discovered my account was canceled I owed them $300 more for the last months service and the bank said there access was fozzen .. learned then quantom computer service is AOL's corprate name AOL is Trade name :) needless to say that 90days of free service cost me around $950 hehe not confused the name quantum reminded me of that story which now is funny back then not so much :P you just never forget the name of a company that gives you something free for a $1000

I know this is an old thread, but After I upgraded to an HTC Radar 4G, and then recently upgraded again to an HTC Amaze 4G, which both get T-Mobile 4g (and Have hotspot and I dont get charged because I'm on prepaid), I'm averaging 1-3gb per month because me and my friends use my hotspot and unlimited data plan to access facebook and youtube at school. XD I'd say actual phone data usage ranges from 700mb-1gb a month. I have the unlimited up to 5gb 4G Plan Through T-Mobile. |

Don't have a data plan, but last month, over wifi I used around 8 GB and most of it was streaming video. I tend to watch youtube videos in my subscription list while surfing the web on my tablet (mainly while in bed) So I will have the stick it application running which allows me to play a video in a window while using the browser, and will just catch up on some revision 3, froknowsphoto, and eevblog videos Generally before going to sleep, and on weekends, also in the morning before getting out of bed. those rather short bursts of usage adds up to around 8+ GB a month |
