there are a lot of perks for sure how ever better is for the most part an individual opinion based on how one uses there computer and what they need it to do ..
if you just use your computer mainly for games and by bored you mean no particular game is captured your attention lately stick with Windows changing operating systems is not a spare time game specially if you use your computer for your income of any nature :)
if you are looking to start and make the move to change that is happening in computing today from massive desktops, laptops with tons of filled disk space and and walls and corners of space in your home plowed full of cds, dvd VHS tapes to stream lined library of music and video stored on your cloud server interfaced linking your TV,home theater, computer, phone and garage door with the cloud.. I would say go for it ..
by all means switch to Linux start learning how it all works in the next 3 to 5 years all will be heading in that direction with one OS or another any how and many Linux distros at this time are still being offered for free at this time see linux the source code that has to be offered always freely but linux distros like ubuntu redhat and others backed by big corps well they dont the software its self dont have to be offered freely get it while you can :)
