In Windows 7 there is an option to "Adjust for best performance" which gives you a simplified GUI much like that of Windows 98. How much of a difference would this make to gaming? Is the difference all that noticeable? Below are screen shots of the visual differences.

Depends on your specs, please list them. Usually if your pc can do decent gaming you will notice absolutely no difference what so ever.

Thats good to hear. I have just ordered Battlefield 3 and am not in a position to upgrade my GPU at the moment. Hopefully it will be fine.

As @Mukhtar Hindi said, it depends on your system. If it's a low end system made for XP you'd see major results (kind of like adding more storage via ReadyBoost if you ever did that). If you have a higher-end system, you won't see any.
