So 3-4 days ago I noticed that my hard drive space was getting full, then the day before I had over 250gb free on that hard drive. Day by day and hour by hour I noticed it was creeping up. Now its hit full? I am by far not a 'newb' with computer but have never seen this problem before. Hard drive failing? Virus? If any one has any suggestions I am all ears! Things I have tried:
Other things to note:
Think that's about it, cheers. |

i am not sure you need to take it to bestbuy and have them take a look at it |

Did you install anything in particular that day? Are you sure you (or somebody else if shared) weren't downloading something? Check the autostart list with CCleaner. Use sysinfo.org to check the processes. You might have to backup your stuff and do a fresh install. Installed 2 programs and 1 update, programs are 100% safe used them all before. I cant see them making this happen but it could be worth un-installing. No offense to OP, but people who don't know what's eating up their hard drives don't always know that they've installed something :0 Just ran .msconfig and only have 5 start-up programs, some thing I all ways keep an eye on. Cheers tsilb but I know whats what (: |

If CCleaner wasn't set to clean your web browsers history, you can get a couple hundred megabytes more than you had before. |

***hard drive filling up virus - Yahoo! Search Results: http://bit.ly/9hHAkx*** I've encountered Viri Infections like this last year. I think the viri names were .NET & klez, but I'm unsure ... notes were left at that place of employment. Our anti-virus programs didn't detect, due to the viri were installed & had admin rights. Check the scheduled tasks. Most systems were low level formatted, then reimaged. |

Download this program, Sequoiaview: http://w3.win.tue.nl/nl/onderzoek/onderzoek_informatica/visualization/sequoiaview// It gives you a graphical representation of what exactly is on your hard drive and how much space it's taking up. |

I would get a new hard drive if I were you. If you've done a system restore and still have a problem then usually it's a hardware issue. Besides, internal hard drives are getting cheaper these days to replace. |
