Hello,

I'm trying to install Windows 7 x86 or x64 but i get an error when it sticks to a certain percentage. The error code is 0x8007045D on other blogs they say that my installation disk is the problem. But i tried several disks and ISO files, also tried installing form USB.

So what could be the problem?

thx,

What computer are you installing to? Is it custom built or store bought? Also, do you have the OEM disk or a .iso copy burnt to a DVD or USB?

@DJ Scooby Doo It's a packard bell laptop, and i'm using a .iso copy burnt to dvd and a bootable usb. The dvd i'm using worked on my other pc's. Also i can't install linux (also stops at the install)

Hmm, did you change anything in the BIOS or added any hardware to the computer recently?

Is it using a 32 or 64 bit processor?

If it's anything like the link I provided, I think it's 64-bit.

I was scoping through the internet in regards to your problem there. Came up on one other message board that has about the same thing that your talking about. When your trying to do a install are you reformating the hard drive completely?? or is it already on a formated drive? Take a look here at this link in regards to it.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistaapps/thread/41b89e0a-39a6-4a96-880c-fd7b34d3af97/

The problem seems to be in regards to a corruption on the hard drive itself like the formatted partition or a registry of some sort. Try reformatting the drive completely from scratch.

ANd here is another one that was posted directly on Microsoft web site as well in regards to windows 7.

When de install loads eventually i choose for custom installation and removed both partitions. Then i make a new partition and windows create a system partition of 100MB. Next i format the partition i created of about 680GB. And then the install fails again.

I used to get this error when I was trying to install Windows Vista a while back. I had the retail DVD and I only got the error when installed on my computer and not others. I tried all the solutions out there and nothing seemed to work. The only thing I did was just keep trying the installation over and over until it finally installed successfully. I know it's not much of a solution but keep at it and trying things and you'll find the solution.
