I don't use it, I find it rude to the site owner that lives off their site and your blocking there source of money.

That's a noble cause. You're apart of a few, homie. That's pretty nice of you.

I use it to block ads, because I don't like ads and they're annoying. No one wants to wait 15-30 seconds for their video to load, and sometimes ads take up half the screen, or pop-ups come up from everywhere. For example on TinyChat, they recently rolled out 30 second ads before connecting to the chatroom, but with AdBlock Plus installed, I don't see them anymore.

and side ads sometimes make noise, and on older machines the resources to download/run the ads is longer than loading the page/or video itself

It blocks all annoying ads! Thats why! lol. but seriously, this is great for removing the flash video ads on youtube, and most websites. this is particularly great because it will save ram and battery if on a laptop which means more time for browsing!

I like ads. I get money when people watch my videos.

So on YouTube I don't block ads.

But on sites that make you wait or have popups or use too many ads on the page that makes it horrid to view the site.

Isn't that kind of contradicting? You said you don't block ads on YouTube because they make you money, yet you block ads on different sites. Don't those ads make the site money?

There is obviously a difference in view points from the creator and the consumer

DJ if you read what I said you would see that annoying ads are blocked not the okay ones...

^Right, I did read it, but even those so called annoying ads make the site money. So isn't it better to not block ads at all, since you're so enthused in making money? You must understand those ads make the site money as well. Don't think of yourself, think of others as well.

Annoying ads might make money but forcing a bad experience on a person who what is to visit the site is not going to want them to go back. Putting a few ads that fit in with the site is okay but ones that piss you off then no ill go to another site or block the ads. I did not say that I would block only on sites that don't earn me money. Just ones that piss me off because that is all the site is. Ads.

How did you block only annoying adds like popus vs just a simple Google adsence add? Sounds more friendly towards the creators of the content instead of blocking all adds.

I have it off all the time. But if a site is annoying then just set it to block on that domain.

What many consider just annoying today very soon is what is going helping to support the ever growing cost of bandwidth and data usage in the ever growing Cloud computing .. how I meant that is there are going to be many families school and such that simply will not be able to afford additional costs that are coming in the future and advertising is going to be the trade off, back before 1999 advertising worked much in the same way to get computers and internet in the hands of more people ..

plenty I'm sure remember the day of goto where they would see you had internet access give you a computer system using part of the desk top for advertising to help pay the cost that was just one of the more well know many local iSPs were doing the same thing at the time it was all worked through a company call advantage the company paid like a penny per click they install banner rotation software on computer desktop while you surf fed and used your computer you clicked advertising banners and it paid for your computer or online service..

today with data usage rising and ISPs capping data use these type of services no doubt will be makeing a return in full force not only to keep computer and internet in the hands of everyone but also to help reinforce and improve the ability of the system to handle the heavier load ..

some company's are in a perfect position to do just this I bet every one know the Name and logo of the biggest yup its Google they are in a great spot with ad sense and also double click to offer these types of programs things haven't reached that necessary level yet but when everyone data is capped at 4 gb a month or less for $50 TO $70 a month and 90% of all devices are portable and in need of internet where ever they are to work or be useful add the cost of subscription fees and cloud space to store files the advertising to defer cost is going to start looking like a nice option ..

ADVERTISING is the stuff that made the web what it is if it had no commercial value other then schools and research it would have faded computer would be in the same land as the 8 track player & Betamax

every website that is anything today is what it is because of advertising , anyone who dont remember the early 90's and what it was that made everyone aware that there was even a web out here and NO I dont mean AOL if it was up to AOL back then which was nothing more then an over priced BBS club if it were up to them it would have remained like that..

remember tv and radio back then in the day when every company was just starting to move to the web the words dot com to this day are burned in the mind of everyone that is why advertising , ebay yahoo google yes even FaceBook every where you look today you see check us out us out on facebook..

the odd thing about the AOL model of the past is that what went around comes around, AOL and Compuserve were the first and the largest Cloud serivces on the Internet take the AOL of 96 give it a metro face lift with subcription programs like MS-office media player cloud storage space cable access digital phone a browser I dont know like netscape or firefox add in cloud storage and web hosting space Oh wait my bad i just decribe the AOL , google, microsoft . apple of today ..

what I meant by if AOL had its way it the Internet would have remained a privite closed club was just this AOL had what it referedto as free areas anything todo with AOL alone inside its cloud bubble of advertising was free anything conntect outside like usenet, web surfing, chatrooms, were all pay by the hour there set rate was $2.99 an hour on top of the monthly fee of $19 a month and any long distant phone charges ..
