Im taking some pictures for my webpage with a Canon EOS T3i at full resolution, and the pictures end up being more than 6MB heavy, so it takes a considerable amount of time to upload all of them to my webpage. I was wondering if there was any tool I could use to decrease the file size of JPGs pictures in bulk. I'm on Mac OS X 10.7. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys. |

Lightroom also allows you to determine the quality and size of the image when you save it. |

You can load them into Photoshop or Gimp and then just re-save them with a lower "quatlity". If you don't have Photoshop, Gimp is free! That will lower the file size. You do have to be careful with that though because if you bring the quality down low enough, it will look really bad. There probably is a more specific program for this kind of of decreasing though my method will work. Anyone know of a specific program? I've found a tutorial on how to do it with a Photoshop action, and it seems like it's gonna work... Imma give it a try, and report back when I find out. With photoshop, all you have to do is open it and then re-save it as a .jpg and when you try to save it will show a small menu and there is a quality slider that you can use. |

Decreasing the size may help. 1280 x 960 or even 1024 x768. You can also reduce them to 72 or 96 ppi. 96 ppi is the resolution for most non high-def monitors. Those resolutions should look ok in most cases. |

photoshop has a batch processor that will allow you to apply any set of macros or single actions to any number of images, you can simply do a batch operation to all selected images or an entire folder and simply create more compressed versions or resize them or do both. |
