So i am going back to windows 7 from windows 8 and i need to store some avi files i have on my computer. I already have idrive but that cannot hold them all. I have moved a few onto my other computer and now that is full and i still have a few. If i upload to YT it is going to take 400 odd minutes to upload and i have about 20 of them. Dropbox etc cannot hold them. Any idea?

You should either A) Buy an external hard drive to store them all, B) Get a SkyDrive, C) Combine as much services you can to upload them all, or D) Burn them to DVDs.

I personally recommend you run to the nearest Best Buy and for $70+ tax you can get your files safely backed up. Here's an external hard drive that's cheap: http://goo.gl/nws0e

Then run to a PC World and get yourself a hard drive, because since none of the uploading options work for you, get a local option. Here's one I found here: http://goo.gl/AEaHn, or on Amazon.co.uk: http://goo.gl/KUM72

It would be the fastest option just to get an external hard drive.

you should go to best buys and buy your self a new Hard drive for your computer :) as I understand it if you choose to run the beta of win8 mircosoft makes it very difficult to go back to any version of windows I beleive it has to do with the fact that EUFI has changed you whole hard drive ansd bios set up ..

in the full release versin it will lock the hard drive so no other OS can be used other then win8 it wont allow even dual boot or VM as I understand it ..

keewp in mind also there are very few web hosts or cloud services that will allow you to up load or store video or music file what so ever exception being if you buy you bought it the likes of amanzon and store at amazon this is going to be one of the sliver linings for cloud services programs video and music store on a cloud host will remain at the cloud host built in loyalty ..

it not completely this way yet but most are heading in that direction fast no way to pirate what they sell even programs because you will longer be the owner of anything but streaming rights so long as you pay stop paying your rights are removed you wont own a physical copy to pirate or store or lose ina crash ..

^I disagree. I flip-flop from Windows 8 to 7 and vice versa and my laptop runs fine. You're mistaken, Windows will NEVER lock your hard drive, and if they do, you can always DBAN.

you better go do a good read on the microsoft web site you maybe have a little wiggle room right now but win 8 is going be bit locked just like Apple :)

it is going to also get more difficult to find win 8 outside of whats install as OEM its not going to be as widely avalable as I have read it also will be the first version not reelease on USB flash rather then cd ..

Red hat and ubuntu are already having issue getting there systems to install and boot side by side with win 8 ..

ill have to dig back several months herei been following this over a year now , though you can beielve me it there uefi system that is replacing bios is already causing issues if you install ubuntu unity side by side with win 8 because of the EUFI your computer will no longer shut down correctly it will only reboot over and over and over with out makeing more then a few configuration changes that will make the issue tolerable for many sleep and hibernate mode were messed up as well ..

any how if you want to do a search microsoft made a very quite anonousment about it back in april I think it was no fanfair as they had been telling all they had no plan of locking hard drives , it was all around the time they started dropping the bom about media player pay to play and stuff no dvd play back for windows 8 for free and such ..

the news on UEFI is like this windows announced they were going to lock win 8 from having anything else including other version of window like winXP ..

how ever as it turned out Intel reveal windows was being conplete honest the Intel I386 would have to be unlock-able the Arm chip will could be and would be completely lockable this was all just before the beta release after intel news broke it was shortly after Microsoft broke with news about no DVD or bluray play on media player it would be pay to play, then they broke the new about surface which would be a arm based tablet by Microsoft ..

so 2 things hold true any Arm based with windows will be locked and any I386 that is not intel on the inside I dont really have to give links to any of this it is very easy to find with a search on Google now there is thousands of hits for this news ..

Well that's for tablets, as I'm looking on Google. Nothing about laptops or desktops here.

As I'm seeing here, only ARM devices. Ah well, that's why I'm not buying another computer because I'm fine with the ones I have already. And Windows 8 RP is running like a dream on my Dell Latitude D620.
