Sparrow acquisition by google means mail software for windows? what are your opinions on this? |
|
Huh? It's fairly apparent that the acquisition is intended to make GMail more compatible with Apple products. Google has always been more Windows oriented and they're going about correcting the balance. It that's true, why did Dom Leca of Sparrow released this statement: 'We will continue to make available our existing products, and we will provide support and critical updates to our users. However, as we’ll be busy with new projects at Google, we do not plan to release new features for the Sparrow apps.' (Source: The Verge: http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/20/3172222/google-buys-sparrow-mail/in/2936538) So in other words, when needed there will be updates, but we won't see the long promised and awaited push/fetch option for their iOS app any time soon... Oh well, time will tell... this is also done to offer a better ecosystem to an android user like apple which offers decent mail app like apple mail on ios and os x, so go google, i can bet it ll be as awesome as chrome, fingers crossed! |

There is definitely a surge for Windows based desktop email clients. That is great news for Sparrow! Starting to see other Windows email apps spring into action. Here is a Windows desktop email beta I am looking forward to testing. Just found it here- http://getmailbird.com/ |
