Why doesn't Instagram let people upload pictures via their computer?

So I started to use Instagram for the past two weeks, and it's been fine, but the thing that gets me is not uploading photos via my PC. I have thousands of photos I'd like to upload but Instagram doesn't let you upload it because their API doesn't allow it. Why don't they? Are they trying to be exclusive to the mobile devices? All of my photos take up all of my space on my phone and Instagram would probably crash at the 1,509 photos I have.

Lmao, for which one? If you're talking about Punch and Pie, I'm an admin of a Facebook like page, so I upload photos like these. If you're talking about TinyChat, lmao, everyone on my TinyChat has these classic photos.

lol, at the photos, and I don't know, but for the people without smart phones, to not even try the service, I mean how hard is it to have the option to make an account and upload photos via a computer?

Its Windows 8, and how do you manage that, I think I'm allergic to Windows 8, but honestly how do you live with that, I mean it fine, if the start menu was back and everything didn't look so dumbed down, everything is so cunky and non flowing

Ehh, I got used to everything in 8, because I've been using it ever since Developer, lol. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad.

but you can view them online, so why not just extend the capability of the service.

Yeah i guess, why have an website devoted just for looking at pictures? that would be quite neccesary. (being able to upload pictures from computer). Jacob.

well more devices in future are gonna be mobile, even computers with windows 8 touch pc's, they all have cameras, front facing on tablets so very nice move by fb to acquire this application, instagram is a mobile "camera" app and if they allow photo upload just like zillion other sites on web what difference it ll be for them? they ll lost identity!

Windows 8, even while being a tablet, is still a desktop operating system. To be able to upload from there would to be able to upload from any Windows 8 PC, which invalidates your point.

^Pause, no need for all that attitude. Instagram doesn't even have a Windows Phone port, so you know it sucks for all the new 8 users that use this tablet/desktop OS.
