I have an HP G72 Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. It will not power on. The only light is on the side when the power cord is plugged in. When I press the power button, there is absolutely no response whatsoever. I have tried a hard reset, and no change. Its virtually become a $700 paperweight. Any help here in the community?

1)Unplug it.

2)Remove the battery

3)Hold the power button down 30sec to 1min #30sec should work#

4)Plug it back in without the battery and try to boot it.

5)If it boots; shut it down and put the battery back in. If it doesn't it's time to star troubleshooting.

Electrostatic discharge... tomato tohmahtoe I guess. Well it could be your power button or lid switch. You might be able to save it.

XD yeah I was trying to fix it for a friend and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I troubleshooted the hell out of it and still couldnt find what would cause it to just not come on like that. chargers good, batterys good. ram and hdd are all good. as far as I know it may be a mobo problem and once you hit that far, theres really no saving it unless you want to send it into HP. :/

well if you leave the battery in it will make a more hefty paper weight .

the only glimmer of hope is you seem to indicate one of the lights still lights up how ever if the lap top shows no life with or without a battery and you have tryed a universal CHarger ( power supply) and no go most likely not gonna get it going again ..

sorry just the way it is today with most any pc lap top ultrabook tablet or phone no user serviceable parts everything is on board nothing plugs in pretty much they dont make or stock boards they would have to be ordered takes weeks and hardly worth the cost they usually require you replace everything and even if you rebuilt it your self would cost you what a new one would some times more ..

just my personal experance time and time again
